MagicMeets '08

Well, let me start by saying, MagicMeets '08 was AWESOME!!! With that out of the way, here's the recap.

The princesses and I drove up to MagicMeets for the big event on Saturday. This was our first time and I had no idea what to expect. The RadissonPenn was very easy to find, which was a huge relief for the directionally challenged. Upon arrival we were greeted by an unbelivably long check-in line. First lesson of MagicMeets, plan to go for the whole weekend. People who went to the "Meet Before the Magic" on Friday night didn't have to check-in on Saturday. I was amazed at how quickly the line moved. We were through in no time. The ball room for the main event was HUGE. All along the walls were tables of the various sponsors. All the biggies were there; MEI-Travel, Steve Barret, TheMagicInPixels.com, Lou Mongello, WDWToday, AllEarsNet.com and many more.

We found a table and jumped right over to meet the boys from WDWToday. How much fun to meet St. Testa and the yummy Matt Hochberg. I was totally in awe. The princesses were not quite sure what to make of the whole thing. Princess B, being a 'tween, was slow to warm up to it all. Princess H jumped right in and had a blast. We perused the Dream Team Auction and I found a little something to bid on. A framed and autographed photo of Matt Hochberg's terrifying ride on Dinosaur at MouseFest '07. Princess H spent the day checking on the progress. Did I win? Let's just say I'm a bit p-o'd at the event staff guy who outbid me in a less than sporting way. I'm sorry but dotting your name with little Mickey head's while they countdown the auction is extremely poor form. I met Lou Mongello, who knew he read my posts on TheDisneyBlog.com. That was a real treat. He's such a nice guy.

There were some interesting breakout sessions. I attended the talk Justin Muchoney, the Disney Dream CMO gave and Hidden Mickeys with Steve Barrett. Justin's talk was standing room only. He was very cool. He stayed around for the entire event. What a warm and friendly guy. If Patrick Hurd couldn't be the guy I'm so glad Justin ended up winning. Steve Barrett's talk was very interesting. He had some really neat Hidden Mickey's to show us. I'll be looking for a few on our next trip to the World.

There's not much fault that can be found with the day. Fred Block and his team did an amazing job. However, I will say the lunch was a bit blahh. The kids buffet was much better. I had Princess H sneak me a couple hot dogs. The sad stuffed shell from the adults buffet just wasn't cutting it for me.

The crowning moment of the whole event was the big announcement of the Dream Team efforts. MagicMeets '08, through various smaller contributions, raised a whopping $19,116 for Lou Mongello's Dream Team. It was an amazing and emotional announcement. Shortly after Lou came back on stage and said he was going to make up the rest to make the total an even $20,000. How amazing!!

All in all we had a great time. The Royals will most definitely be heading back to Harrisburg for MagicMeets '09. Next year we'll be staying the whole weekend. If you'd like more info about this fun event visit www.magicmeets.com.

What Happened At MagicMeets?

Hey! We're home! It was a ton of fun. But, wait? Where are all the pictures I promised? Well, to post pictures on Blogger you need to have the email address in your phone. That was something I didn't check before I left. When it was time to send a picture I didn't have it. What a dummy!! Anyway, I'll have a full recap of the day, complete with pictures, posted tomorrow. I'm so tired tonight I'm surprised there are no typos in this post.

The Fiery Depths of HELL!!!

Holy moley Batman!! It's hotter than heck outside. Summer time in Maryland is usually a miserable affair. This Summer we've been lucky that it hasn't been to unbearable. That is, until today. The weather we all hate is back with a vengenance. The humidity is gross, the breeze is hot. I'm sweating so much I look like I've been swimming. I really wish I was at the pool. Although, according to the Queen Mother I'm going to hell so I guess I better get used to this.

A scheduling note: the princesses and I are going to MagicMeets tomorrow in Camp Hill, PA. We're really looking forward to it. I'll be posting pictures to the blog throughout the day. Stay Tuned!!!
