Purse Perfection

Well, it doesn't get much better than this. Ladies, this is the Coach Ergo Belted Leather Magazine Tote. I love it!! Yes, this is another fabulous bag that I picked up from my new friends at Bag Borrow or Steal. What great friends they are too. Not only does this little beauty smell divine (see previous post about the fantastic Perlina bag) but it is softer than a baby's bottom. I just can't keep my hands off of it. I will admit that it's not as big as I would like and I find the arm hole a little small. But, it's a Coach bag so who are we kidding here. It's still awesome! There's something about that little Coach hang tag that makes a girl feel special.

Pilgrimage to M'Ville

I may have mentioned it before and I'm going to mention it again. I LOVE NASCAR!!! Can you believe SB's sister loves a 'good ole boy' sport like Nascar. Well, I do. The speed, the thrill, the good looking drivers. I'm amazed at how detailed it all is. There's a lot more to racing then turning left. Well, on to the topic for the day. A few weeks ago the oldest of my princesses came to me asking if I was planning on going to a race this season. I thought her question odd because she is not a fan of Nascar. Princess #2 loves it but #1 not so much. I told her I was thinking about it and she asked if she could come along. At this point in the conversation I was concerned that aliens may have taken over her body. It turned out one of the boys in her class was going to the Sept. Dover race and all the other boys were a flutter over the news. She wanted to impress them as well with the news that she was going to a race also. I pointed out that she would have to sit and watch the entire thing unlike at home where she could leave at anytime. She had thought about that already and planned on bringing a book along. I purchased tickets to the race in Martinsville for both of us. It was AWESOME! The track is small. We had great seats right behind the flag stand. Princess 1 loved the noise of the engines. She commented on how bright and shiny the cars were in real life. We enjoyed the famous Martinsville hot dog. Famous because it's pink. A fact I didn't tell her before she unwrapped it to put mustard on it. She was so shocked she almost dropped it. We had such a great time that we're making plans to go again in the Spring and bring #2 as well. I will say the only downfall was the horribly long drive home and the miscalculation as to the traffic coming in. Oh well, live and learn. It was a great time sharing something I love with my daughter and maybe changing her mind about as well. Now, if I could just convince her of the efficacy of clean rooms.

WDW Radio

It's time once again for another podcast review. Here is another of my many favorite Disney podcasts. Lou Mongello of DisneyWorldTrivia.com does an awesome job with this show. Lou is the author of the Disney World Trivia books. His books are amazing. I believe they should be required reading for anyone going to Walt Disney World. But, back to the podcast. WDWRadio is so much fun to listen to. The production quality is great. Lou fills each hour with so much information. He always has on an interesting guest, quite a few of them work for the company. There's no doubt that this man has a passion for the World. You can hear it in every show. WDWRadio was awarded the "Best Travel Podcast of 2007" at the 3rd Annual Podcast Awards. This marks the second year in a row that a podcast Lou Mongello has been a part of has one this award. I highly recommend this podcast to all who have a love of Disney (if you do you probably already listen to it) and all those who may be new to this obsession and want to get an idea what it's all about.

$300 Leather

Have you ever had the joy of smelling $300 leather? I have and this is it. I recently joined the amazing site Bag Borrow or Steal. If you've never been click NOW. For all of you handbag junkies this is the site for you. You can rent the most amazing bags and keep them for as long as you want. When you're done you send it back and get another. If you fall in love with it they'll let you "Steal" it. I received this beautiful Perlina bag yesterday and it is AWESOME! I love it. And, yes, it smells divine.

Each month I'll get a new bag and feature it here. Stay tuned, maybe (if I win the lottery) I'll even rent the coveted vintage Hermes Kelly bag. Probably not, but a girl can dream.

Wishful Thinking

Boy, this weekend was busy. I apologize for no new posts but family demands required my time else where. Oh, who are we kidding, people were in town and you know how things get when that happens. Anyway, as you can tell by the countdown on the right, our trip to WDW is getting closer. I realized the other day that it had been exactly one year since our last trip. Actually, I haven't been on any kind of vacation for a whole year. Needless to say, I'm ready now. I'm so burnt out I can smell my brain frying. As I mentioned, family was in town this past weekend. Many of them are at a loss as to why we enjoy the World so much. I tried to explain by showing the photos from our last trip and telling them about being picked "Family of the Day" on our last day there. It just doesn't get the point across. There's just no way to describe that feeling you get when you drive through that gate and feel the weight of your life lifted off your shoulders. You have to be there first hand to witness the look of wonder and amazement in your child's eyes as they watch "Wishes" again. Yes, even though we've seen it before we're still amazed by it. My first adult trip to WDW was my honeymoon. Everyone tells me that's why it's so special to me. I tend to disagree. That trip reminded me of how wonderful WDW is. To all who don't get it I dare them to come with us and experience it all over again. There is no way you'll come home and not understand why we love it so much.

Happy What to Who?

Yes world! Today is my birthday. Please refrain from posting any kind of birthday message if you can control yourself. I'm not one for celebrating what is just another day. When you're a kid it's a whole different thing. I think big celebrations are in order up until the big 2-1. All of those birthdays are important. All of those days are fun. Once you get to 21 you're an adult. It's all down hill from there. Then the milestones start coming; 30, 40, 50, etc. I will not divulge to the world what number I have hit on this day. As a great woman once said,'A woman who will tell her age, will tell anything.' And I know the saying 'you're only as old as you feel.' Well, I won't even go into how old that would make me. I did receive a call from my perfect sister, Sleeping Beauty. She was somewhere on the French Riviera enjoying time with her Prince. A call from the one who NEVER ages is always such a treat. Actually, the fact that she remembers anyone else's day but her own is quite extraordinary. I know she means well but let's get real. She never hesitates to point out that I'm older than her. Oh well. I try very hard to deflect any notice of the day by telling people that no, in fact, my birthday is on the 33rd not the 4th. That usually stops them and by the time everything clicks I've gone. You may be wondering what the little princesses gave me. Well, let me assure you it was not a peaceful happy school morning, that's for sure. I didn't mind the bag of chocolates though. That's probably the only present worth giving to a girl of 'a certain age.' I do think this deserves a trip to my favorite lunch spot. I wonder if Chipotle has some kind of special on your birthday. A free burrito never hurt. For that I'll shout it to the world!!

Into the Wild

WOW! Regardless of what you think about the kid this book is based on, this book was great. I purchased it yesterday from my local Borders and within 2 hours of getting home I was finished. I couldn't put it down. The story is compelling. What drove this kid to do the things he did? It makes you think really hard about the choices he made, both good and bad, and the impact they had on a lot of people. I can't imagine that it would be easy in this post-9/11 age to drop your identity and become someone else. Jon Krakauer has a gift when it comes to describing nature. I could close my eyes and see it all clearly. I'm definitely going to see this movie if it comes to my area. It was a beautiful story and I highly encourage all to read it.

Behind the Eight Ball

I love my Comcast DVR, especially now that the new Fall season has started. I can set it up to record my favorite shows and forget about it. The one problem is I tend to wait until the weekend to watch it all. That poses a problem when I see friends and they start talking about what was on the night before. I have to run screaming from the room with my fingers in my ears. You may wonder why I do this to myself. It's so much easier to watch everything when I won't be disturbed. Besides, CSI is just not the same in mid-afternoon. Well, yesterday I was catching up on my Oprah's (one day that woman will rule the world!) I was watching an episode from Sept. 20 (see what I mean about being behind.) She was featuring Sean Penn and his new movie Into the Wild . It's based on the book of the same name. Needless to say, I'm intrigued. I bought the book today and plan to devour it as soon as possible. I'm hoping the movie comes out in my area soon. I will post my thoughts on the book after I'm done. However, just from what I've heard from this one Oprah show it sounds like it's going to be a winner. Maybe SB's Sister needs to start doing book reviews as well!

Happy Birthday WDW!!

Today is the birthday of two very special places, Walt Disney World and Epcot. On October 1, 1971 the most wonderful place in the world (yes, I'm very biased!) opened for all to enjoy. Eleven years later, on October 1, 1982, Epcot joined the family. Today Disney World is celebrating it's 36th birthday and Epcot has reached the ripe old age of 25. As we speak, hundreds of fans are at Epcot celebrating as part of Celebration 25 and The Epcot Thing. Both of these events were planned by geniuses from the Disney fan community. I only wish I could be there today to join in the fun. Check the links here in this post and www.allearsnet.com for photos of all the goings on today. In the meantime, I'll be singing a rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday" to Epcot and Disney World. Here's to another great year!
