One Girl's Dream

We inch closer to our big day. No, there's no wedding in the future for SB's sister. Nor will there be another new princess to add to the royal household. I think I would shoot myself if that were going to happen. No, our big day is the start of our next WDW trip. In our royal household time is marked not by birthdays or Christmas but how many days lie between our trips to our Magic Kingdom. Due to horrid airfare we've had to extend our trip to get cheaper tickets. Boy, I bet you feel sorry for us, don't you? Didn't think so. Now, instead of 9 days we'll get 13 glorious days in Walt's World. I can hear Illuminations already. What will we do with ourselves in all that time? So many people stare in shock when they hear we'll be there for so long. Is there really enough to do? Won't you get bored? Miss home or the royal pooch? Yes, there's enough to do. Absolutely NOT will we get bored or miss home. How can anyone not miss their dog? Our dream is to be able to stay happily ensconced in our Magic Kingdom for 3 weeks straight. Why don't you move there, you may be thinking. The fun is in the planning and waiting for the day to arrive. The fun is experiencing things you can't see anytime you want. Besides, hurricanes and heat are not my thing. But, when the days seem to drag slow as molasses towards that big day, the thought of being able to see holiday Illuminations every night for 12 days (we'll be leaving to early on day 13 to do anything) just might save me from lying down in traffic.

Harry Revisited

It was definitely to crazy to post from the big event. It was a very LONG night. The little princesses had fun in costume. Princess #1 even made it to 3rd place in the Potter Spelling Bee. I was pretty proud. Thank God I had a chair to sit in. I'm way to old to be sitting on the floor. Besides, SB would be appalled if she knew her sister was sitting on the floor, like a commoner. She still doesn't get why we would want to go and wait for it when, as royalty, it should come to us. She really isn't as self-centered as she seems. OK, well maybe a little. Now, on to the book. Actually, we have yet to begin reading the final installment. We're working through 5 & 6 as we speak. It will be a little sad when it's all over. On the other hand, my neck is so stiff from staying up all night reading that I don't think my body will mind to much.

All This for a Freakin' Book?

Oh my God!! Potter mania is definitely in full force. The big day has finally arrived. Tonight is the big party and release of the FINAL Harry Potter book. I stopped by Borders this morning to pick up a wrist band to secure our book tonight. I figured I'd get it done early. Just breeze in, pick it up and get out. I got there at 8:30 for a 9 am opening. I was going to relax in my car, listen to some podcasts (go figure, right?) Well, to my surprise there were already 20 people in line. I couldn't believe it. By the time the doors open there was easily 100 in line. I didn't get out of there until 9:20. We'll be going to the launch party tonight and I can only imagine what it will be like. I may post on location. All this for a book?

My Dirty Little Secret

I, like many of my fellow Disney junkies, am ADDICTED to podcasts. "What the ...?' you're asking. Podcasts! The next best thing to happen to Disney junkies since Walt first built Disneyland. Podcasts are those wonderful fan created shows that you can fill your iPod with and enjoy anywhere. When I need a little bit of Disney, and when don't I, I just turn on my beautiful pink iPod and listen away. There are so many Disney podcasts out there it's amazing. I personally subscribe to at least 30 of them. Wait a minute, don't look so shocked. Yes, there are that many podcasts about Disney. Actually, there are many more than that. I've narrowed it down to the ones I like the best. My one dilemma is listening to them all. Now, don't get me wrong. I definitely have more than enough time to listen to 30 fan-based Internet "radio" shows over the course of the week. Thankfully, most of these podcasts are released once a week. That's not my problem. You see, I came into the podcasting game kind of late. Podcasting started around 2005 (at least most of the shows I listen to did.) I didn't find most of them until late 2006. So now I'm struggling to catch up. I can't bring myself to jump ahead and listen to the current show without listening to all the old ones first. Call me crazy. Actually, I am crazy. I currently have 630 different episodes sitting in my iTunes. What's a girl to do? Lock myself in my room for a week and plug in non-stop until I'm all caught up. I wonder what would happen to your ears if you went for a whole week with in-ear headphones attached 24 hours a day for 7 days. Hm mm, if I could just get rid of the little princesses long enough to find out. Want to know what my favorite shows are? I'll post a report each week about my favorite shows. Stay tuned.

Smarter Than the King

Today I found out I'm actually smarter than the King about something. The King is always looking for the "Next Big Thing" when it comes to promoting his empire. We were riding in the car today and he said to me, "Have you heard about this blog thing? I think I'm going to start one." I laughed to myself. "Of course,' I said, ' I've had one for months." He was a bit surprised to learn that I knew something about the Internet that he didn't. I was pleasantly surprised myself. Of course, I was then obliged to show him this blog. He said he's going to read it tonight. Now, about that addiction post. Oh well, it will have to wait til tomorrow. The suspense is killing you, isn't it!!

Evan Almighty, Indeed

The heavens have opened up on our little hamlet. Good lord, I'm expecting to see the animals swim by two-by-two any second. It's not that we didn't need the rain, mind you. The dust kicked up from the parched grass is definetely a sign of lack of moisture. However, I didn't realize when I left the castle this morning that I would need full scuba gear to get home this afternoon. The young princesses are enjoying themselves at day camp today. I'm hoping they haven't washed away in the deluge. Still, wondering about that dreaded addiction of mine? You'll have to wait 'til tomorrow. Cheers!

Hot Enough To Melt Your Skin Off

Here in the Mid-Atlantic the temperature is ridiculous. All around town you can hear the locals commenting that it's not the heat it's the humidity. Well, I'm a local and I say, "CRAP!!" Yeah, the humidity is awful. I can't walk out my door without bursting into sweaty pools of ick within 2 minutes. It's pretty bad when 7 am is unbearable. However, when the temperature hits 100 no amount of humidity can be blamed. That's pretty hot. At least for our side of the country. I know the folks in Arizona are shaking their heads. I understand things have cooled off considerably there, 100 must feel like an Arctic blast. Now, don't get me wrong, I have no problem with a little warmth. I can handle 85 maybe even an occasionally 90. But, that's it. It does help when the humidity is close to zero. I don't think it's to much to ask to have a summer that doesn't require surgically implanting a cool mist machine to my head. The funny thing is I'm going to Dallas in two weeks. I'll be required to wear pantyhose. Any chance I can pay for comfortable weather? I wonder if God takes credit cards.

Addiction

I have a confession to make. I am addicted. Yes, I will admit that I have an addiction. One that I cannot control. It eats away at all my time. I find myself withdrawing horribly if I don't get my fix. "OMG,' you might be saying,' The sister of the beautiful Sleeping Beauty is addicted to something. How is that possible?" Well, it all started about two years ago. I came across something so interesting and exciting I had to try it. Once I did I was hooked. I couldn't get enough. I had to have more. Then, I found that there were many different versions to feed my addiction. I had to have them all. Well, all of the ones I thought were the best. "Holy Cow,' you say,' what is it that SB's sister is mainlining on a regular basis? Could it be some new designer drug or some hip cocktail?" It is in fact the best new designer drug that you can get your hands on for FREE. What is it? Tune in next post!!!

We Now Return To Our Regularly Scheduled Blog

Wow! It's been awhile. Where has the time gone? I must admit I've lost all sense of time. Now that the summer is here you would think posting on a regular basis would be simple. If only. What's happened in the last month? Lots of things to be sure. The most exciting would be the unit I work for sold $1 Million during our fiscal year which ended June 30th. It's a lot of fun to tell the world you're part of a Million $ sales team. In our company that's a big deal. I can't name names but we'll say that's a lot of lipstick. On the home front life was not so exciting. The young princesses and I had to vacate our castle. Not much fun when the only alternative is back to the Queen's estate. "But what of your darling sister?' you ask. SB does not like to be reminded that most of us live in the real world. Life is not all about balls and tiaras. She looks at me and shakes her head in amusement. Her poor (literally) darling sister. We are like night and day. (She would definitely claim day.) But, on to happier things. Each day that ticks by brings us closer to the joy that is our impending trip to the Motherland. The prospect of Thanksgiving dinner at the Hoop-de-Doo Revue sends shivers of excitement down my spine. Frankly, just the thought of any kind of time at the big WDW is wonderful. I envy those who can go for two weeks. In my own private Wonderland I spend the entire summer there with out a care in the world. No money worries, no problems with lines. That's definitely a trip through the looking glass. I would just settle for one night in Cinderella's Royal Chamber. I don't think I would sleep a wink.
