The Meaning Of It All

This blog is a look into one girl's life. (Hence the name, duh.) Sometimes that life is simple, like sitting with your kids and enjoying the cool, tropical goodness of a Dole Whip on a glorious Disney day. Sometimes that life is complex and stressful, widowed single motherhood anyone. Today is one of those complex and stressful days. Life demands a lot. Children are cranky, it's been a long school year. The ick of summer humidity is approaching. The King's job demands were particularly high today. My regal sister is able to escape the mundane with trips abroad. She has to promote the kingdom, of course. My escape is still months away. 10 little days in November. I don't know how I'm going to make it.

A Rookie Goes To WDW

I have come to be known in certain circles as "The Authority On All Things Disney." As the sister of one of the A-List princesses it's no wonder. I find myself answering lots of questions and giving plenty of advice about visiting the World. A friend of mine has been planning her family's first trip. I'm ashamed to say she is doing it very late in the game. She just booked everything and they're going next month. The horrors of late stage planning. She called me this morning to report the good news that travel has been booked. I listened to her gush excitedly about how relieved she was to have it done. The resort they are staying in. The joys of scoring MYW dining. She waited expectantly for her motherly pat on the head for a job well done. After congratulating her I gently informed her that now it was time to get those ADR's. As in you better get your bleepin' you know what on the phone and get them done yesterday if you have any hope of eating so much as a packet of ketchup at a relatively decent hour. The phone got quiet on the other end and I could hear her lip begin to quiver. She excused herself from the phone muttering something about having left the bible (The Unofficial Guide, natch) in the car. I chuckled to myself and shook my head. There should be a rookie training course for planning your first trip. They're so naive it's cute. Now, what does the book of Saint Testa have to say about the Sci-Fi? I better go check it out. My 180 is fast approaching.

We're Going To Disney World!

The countdown has begun! Our little family of three is excitedly getting ready for the big trip. As soon as we come home from one trip we start to plan the next. The latest "Unofficial Guide" is purchased. A new Disney planning DVD is ordered. The box of WDW souvenirs is unpacked and drooled over. Our family is OBSESSED!! If there was any way to afford a trip every three months we would be there. You can always tell the people who have never been to Uncle Walt's place. They're the ones who look at you like you have three heads and say, "You're going back there AGAIN?" That's the time when I get the look of pity on my face because I know they have not been showered with the pixie dust. Tink can be a discriminating girl. In less than 200 days these three girls will get their DF cards renewed. Stay tuned for all the details!!
